Alfredo Alfaro, Managing Partner of Northgate Capital Mexico, has over 30 years of experience
as an investment professional. Prior to Northgate Capital, Alfaro was Managing Partner at
Advent International, leading its operations in Mexico from 1996 to 2012. During that period,
he was also a member of the Investment Committee for Advent International in Latin America.
Previously, he was a Senior Officer of Grupo Probursa and Procorp, the private equity arm of
the financial group, which he co-managed for eight years. Alfaro holds an MBA from ITAM.
Carlos Morales has worked for Telefónica for 16 years in a variety of positions in Spain, Brazil and
Mexico. His background includes business development, marketing, sales, operations and digital
business. Prior to becoming CEO, Morales was Vice President of Operations and Consumption in
Brazil and was also the Global Managing Director M2M (machine to machine), Cloud Computing
& Apps. Morales holds a civil engineering degree from La Salle University, an MBA from Carnegie
Mellon and an Advanced Management Program (AMP) from Harvard University.
Emmanuel Got has over 10 years of experience in business strategy in the financial and banking sector. He has worked at Banco Sabadell for three years and is in charge of the definition and implementation of the bank’s business strategy. Prior to joining Banco Sabadell, Got worked at Oliver Wyman as Engagement Manager, as Analyst in Deloitte Consulting in Portugal and at Goldman Sachs in London. He has a BAA in Management from the HEC in Montreal and an MSC in International Management from ESADE Business School.
Federico Ranero, has been in Uber for three years. Before taking the country reins, he was
General Manager of Uber for West Mexico. Previously, Ranero was Director of Operations
at Lineo México. He started his professional career as an associate at A.T. Kearney. Ranero
holds an MBA with a focus on finance and strategy from the Booth School of Business at
the University of Chicago and has a Bachelor’s in business administration, magna cum laude,
from the Texas Christian University.
Anasofía Sánchez is in charge of developing Waze’s platform in Mexico, creating strategies,
managing operations and promoting mobility. Before Waze, Sánchez was Business Director at
Facebook Mexico and Central America, where she was responsible for the company’s triple-
digit growth and a third of the platform’s income in Mexico. Sánchez was also Director of Brand
Solutions for Google and Commercial Leader for YouTube México. She has a marketing degree
from ITESM and a Master’s from L’institut des Hautes Études Économiques et Commerciales.
Gabriela Mastache has been in charge of the content development and planning of Mexico
Business Review for almost three years. Before that, she collaborated as an Industry Analyst in
Mexico Automotive Review and Mexico Aviation & Aerospace Review. Mastache has conducted
extensive interviews with over 100 top business and political leaders, including former Governor
of the State of Jalisco Aristóteles Sandoval. She worked as a political consultant for the state of
Sonora and Baja California and hosted two politically-focused radio shows.
Argenis Bauza is a consultant with more than 20 years of experience in various leadership
positions related to transformation and operations consulting and the development of projects
in various Latin American countries. He focuses on employing innovative approaches to help
companies complete their digital transformation to be more successful. Argenis has worked
with clients in a variety of industries (manufacturing, agro-industry, services and retail, among
others) on transformation projects focused on generating value.
Omar Galicia has over 23 years of experience in the e-commerce and retail industries. Galicia
joined Mercado Libre in 2014. Prior to Mercado Libre, Galicia was Commercial Director for
Latin America at Linio Mexico, Divisional Merchandise Director of Elektra and Store Director
at Liverpool. Galicia is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Mexican Association
of Online Sales (AMVO). Galicia is an Industrial Engineer from UNITEC, has a Master’s in
information technology from Anahuac University and an Executive MBA from IPADE.
Rodrigo Vargas has worked as Commercial and Marketing Director, Vice President of Business
Development and COO of the Premium Brands division at CMR. In 2014, Vargas founded
Mero Mole, a global one-stop shop designed to evolve consumer experience and business
profitability, with the ultimate goal of transforming the hospitality industry. Since 2014, Mero
Mole has completed over 150 projects that include restaurants and food halls. Vargas has a
marketing degree from ITESM and an MBA from Macquarie University.
Carlos Lukac, has been leading business transformations and startups in Mexico and Texas
for the past 40 years. Lukac has worked in different industries, including consumer goods,
services, manufacturing and distribution-intensive industries. Most recently, he became
Director General of Gayosso, a 145-year-old funeral company in Mexico and the eighth-largest
funeral company in the world. Lukac has an MBA from Harvard Business School, a metallurgy
MS from OSU and a physics BS from the University of Massachusetts.
Roberto Martínez is a specialist in public policies and competitiveness. Prior to his appointment
at the OECD, he worked extensively in the Mexican public sector, in the Federal Institute of
Telecommunications, the Ministry of Communications and Transportation and the Ministry of
Finance and Public Credit. He has extensive experience in the private sector, having worked
at Intel Corp as well as serving as regional president of the National Chamber of Electronics,
Telecommunications and Information Technologies (CANIETI).
Gilberto García has extensive experience in the public sector and academia, working in innovation,
project development and the introduction of creative solutions to face the challenges of
sustainable development. Previously, García was Adviser to the Director General of PEMEX. In the
private sector, he worked as Director of Operations and Technology at PointVerde and Director of
Energy Government Affairs and Policies for Latin America at GE. García has a degree in economics
from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara and a Master’s in public policies from CIDE.
Paul Verhagen has been Senior Vice President of International Sales at Aeroméxico since April
2016. Verhagen oversees Aeroméxico’s commercial teams in Latin America, the Caribbean,
Europe, Asia, the US and Canada. Prior to Aeroméxico, Verhagen served as Vice President in
Europe for Air Berlin. He has significant experience in the aviation industry, including KLM and
Air France KLM. Verhagen is a graduate of Spain’s IE Business School, Nijenrode University
in the Netherlands and France’s HEC School of Management.
Leonardo Cortina has over 12 years of experience in the fleet administration and leasing industry. Previously, he was Managing Director of GE Capital Fleet Services in Mexico and was also Director of Finances, Operations and Commercial Activities for Facileasing. Cortina has also worked at Dadoo & Asociados where he participated in significant M&A deals in the Mexican financial sector. Cortina has a degree in business administration from the Iberoamerican University and an MBA from Leeds University.
Mario Rodríguez is a mechanical engineering IPM graduate with an IPADE Business School BA in top management AD1. Expert in just-in-time operations, Six Sigma, World Class and Lean Manufacturing, Rodríguez has successfully increased revenue, profit and growth within startup and rapidly changing environments. After 28 years in the automotive industry, he became CEO of Arbomex in 2001 and has since focused on developing management leadership within the organization by participating in workshops and conferences on topics such as Change Management, Marketing and Quality.
Roberto Corral is an international executive and leader in multilingual business strategy with comprehensive experience in many areas, including leadership under crisis, company reorganization, optimization of manufacturing operations, coaching skills, subject editor and speaker. Among his specialties are Six Sigma certified Black and Green Belt, redesign and revision of operations. Corral became General Manager of Innocentro in December 2014 and Advisory Board Member at EMMAC in September 2016. He has been a Member Spokesman for the Aerospace Alliance of Baja California since August 2017. He studied engineering at Cetys Universidad in Baja California and has an MBA in global marketing from the National University of California.
Fabián Torres was appointed Digital Commerce Manager at Nike almost two years ago. Before that, he was Key Account Manager, Market Intelligence Manager and Sr. Sales Analyst at the same company. Before entering the retail segment, Torres worked in the pharmaceutical market. Previously, he was a professor at Panamerican University. Torres has a degree in industrial engineering and a Master’s in business innovation, both from Panamerican University.
Alejandro Guzmán has over 25 years of experience in strategy and business development for the private sector. He was President of the Jalisco Agricultural Council and also acted as Vice President of Productive Chains Integration in the National Agricultural Council (CNA). Guzmán is founder of the Center of Strategic Business Analysis where he was also Vice President of Economics and Public Affairs. He has a degree in economics from the Metropolitan Autonomous University and a Master’s from IPADE.
Gabriel Casillas worked at the Bank of Mexico for over 10 years in the areas of Economic Research, Central Bank Operations and Risk Management. Before joining Banorte, Casillas also worked as Chief Economist for Mexico at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. He is a member of the “Leaders of the Future” group of the Institute of International Finance (IIF) and President of the Committee of Economic Studies of IMEF. Casillas has a degree in economics from ITESM and a Ph.D. in economics from Texas A&M.
Alberto Uribe joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in December under President López Obrador. From 2015 to 2018, he was Municipal President of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga in the state of Jalisco and from 2013 to 2014 was City Hall General Secretary. Uribe has two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Guadalajara, one in law and one in political and government studies. He holds a Master’s in constitutional law from ITESO.
